General Grand Council Educational Foundation

A Cryptic Education Plan for our Members

With the last set of amendments to our bylaws in August 2024, the establishment of a nonprofit entity affiliated with GGCCMI was authorized. Our task force has identified other successful efforts by Masonic entities to obtain 501 (c) 3 tax exempt status which will be mirrored in our application to the IRS. The exemption status is important as it is anticipated that there may be members and other patrons of the Masonic cause who will want to make a deductible gift.

It is presently envisioned that the Foundation will set goals to support or sponsor Cryptic education at the Regional and Grand York Rite levels and develop a Cryptic Research branch so that the mysterious origins and lessons of the Cryptic Rite may be studied and preserved. It is further anticipated that the Foundation will reserve the use of a number of entity names for specific purposes and fundraising efforts. Presently, there are at least two Councils of Research operating on a regular basis and a greater number of Lodges of Research in existence at the Grand Lodge level. The Foundation will work to coordinate efforts in many areas with the existing research entities as well as promote the creation or reinstatement of Councils of Research in all of our jurisdictions that are interested. The Foundation’s programs will serve as additional support for the General Grand Council’s Living Vault Member Retention Plan.
