
Right Illustrious Companion Billy Barbie

Billy was born in Chester, Montana on August 16, 1955, the sixth of seven children, to Alvin J. and Emma Anabelle (Pettapiece) Barbie. Growing up on the family farm north of Inverness, MT, he attended Inverness Public Schools and graduated from High School in May 1973. After High School, he went to work for Caergfill Grains for two years. He continued his education at Norther Montana College in Havre, MT, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and earning a second degree in Automotive Technology in 1985. He started a thirty-four year career as a teacher in Roy, MT, Have, MT and ending after 27 years at Carson High School as the automotive teacher and department head. Billy is married to Cathy (Watts) Barbie (1986) and they have two sons, Brian M. J. (deceased) and Joshua R. Barbie.
Billy began his Masonic Education by being Initiated on November 5, 1992, Passed on April 28, 1995, and Raised on August 4, 1995 in Carson Lodge #1, Carson City, Nevada. He was elected and served as Worshipful Master in 2001. Joining the Carson York Rite Bodies in 1996, he served as High Priest for Lewis Chapter #1 in 2001-02, Illustrious Master for Capital Council #7, 2007-08 and 2011-12 and Commander of E.C,. Peterson #8 in 2005-06 and 2013-14. He has served as a Trustee for Carson Lodge #1 for the past twelve years and is currently also serving as the Tyler.
He is a member of Knight York Cross of Honor, Nevada Priory #50, serving as the Prior in 2014-15, York Rite Sovereign College of North America, Nevada College No. 144, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, and a Kilkenny Council No. 33, Knight Masons, and the Kerak Shrine in Reno. Billy holds the Knights Templar Cross of Honor, Order of the High Priesthood, and Order of the Silver Trowel. He has served as the Grand Secretary/Grand Recorder of the Nevada Grand York Rite bodies since June, 2022.
Billy retired in August of 2015 after thirty-four years as an educator. He enjoys spending time with Cathy and son, Joshua, working in his yard and garden, traveling and camping. He also enjoys hobbies of woodworking and stained glass.
