Frequently Asked Questions
Triennial literally means “three years.” The term is usually applied to the triennial assembly of the General Grand Council. The Triennial is the Grand Session of the General Grand Council, which brings together companions from all over the world into one great gathering. It is held once every three years. The time and place shall be determined by the General Grand Master.
The term is sometimes applied to the three year period between triennial gatherings, although when so used, the word should be “triennium.” The General Grand Council was formed in 1881 and has held triennial meetings since that date, with the exception of the year 1945 when none was held; this was adjusted by holding the meeting in 1946 and again in 1948.
