First Responder Recognition

Honoring those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities and preserving our way of life.

The First Responder Recognition Award provides Councils and every organization within the Masonic Family with a meaningful opportunity to express appreciation to those who have faithfully served their communities.

A Masonic Tribute to Service

The First Responder Recognition Award exists to honor those whose daily commitment protects our communities and safeguards the freedoms we enjoy. It provides Lodges, Councils, Chapters, Commanderies, Eastern Star Chapters, youth organizations, and other Masonic Family bodies with a dignified way to recognize deserving individuals while strengthening relationships within their communities.

Presented by the Masonic Family

This award may be presented by any participating Masonic Family organization to a deserving recipient. Whether the individual is a member of the fraternity or not, the presentation reflects the gratitude of Freemasonry for a lifetime of honorable service.

The Symbolism of the Medal

The design of the First Responder Recognition Award carries rich symbolism that reflects both Masonic principles and the noble calling of those who serve.

The inverted triangle symbolizes that the recipient's service is founded upon the divine love of life and liberty.

The guardian angels represent both our admiration for their sacrifice and our prayer that they remain under divine protection and guidance.

The emblems of the various first responder professions are displayed prominently on the face of the medal, surrounded by nine stars, representing the continual call for assistance and our appreciation for those who answer that call without hesitation.

At the center rests the Cryptic emblem, signifying that this recognition comes from the Cryptic Rite and reflects our belief that, while we labor upon the mortal plane, we remain united beneath the same Divine Providence.
