Passing of MIC William Morse, 1944-2024

Most Illustrious Companion William Morse, 1944-2024
Past Most Illustrious Grand Master of Vermont

Companions and Sir Knights,

Many of you personally knew Brother, Companion and Sir Knight Morse, so I am including a copy of his obituary. He was a true Brother, ready at a minutes notice to take a part in any body he belonged to, be it Lodge, Chapter, Council, Commandery, York Rite Sovereign College, KYCH, Red Cross of Constantine, Scottish Rite or Odd Fellows. Always prepared and a valuable committee member of multiple York Rite Committees. Never arrived to a York Rite Finance Committee meeting without coffee and donuts!

MIC Morse served with distinction as our Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Vermont in 1989, as our Most Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council Royal and Select Masters of Vermont in 1995 and as the Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Vermont, K.T. in 1998.

Companion Bill was awarded the General Grand Chapter Distinguished Service in Bronze medal in 1983 and the Ephrim Kirby Award in 2019. Companion Bill was awarded the Order of the Silver Trowel from the College of Preservation by the Grand Council of Vermont in 2015. Sir Knight Bill was awarded the Knight Commander of the Temple award in 2011. Well deserved and recommended by his fellow Companions and Sir Knights.

Remember Me
by Margaret Mead

To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.

I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea,
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity,
Remember me.

Remember me in your heart:
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.
